Ground prepped, membrane down, sand base screeded level — then turf laid tight with clean edges for a lawn that looks mint all year round.
The lawn you see is only as good as the base you don't. Old turf and debris are stripped out, the ground is graded, a membrane goes down to stop weeds coming through, and a sand base is screeded level and compacted before any turf is laid on top.
Artificial turf comes in different pile heights and tones — samples help you choose — and is laid with the joins hidden, the edges trimmed clean and the pile brushed up. Natural turf is laid tight-jointed and rolled, with straightforward advice on watering it in through the first few weeks.
Artificial costs more per square metre up front but ends the mowing, mud and re-seeding; natural is cheaper to lay and stays a living lawn. Price follows the area, access to the garden and how much ground preparation is needed. Photos of the space give a good starting estimate.
