Carpentry
The backbone of every job. From structural first-fix carpentry — studwork, joists and framing — through to second-fix finishing like doors, skirting and architrave, it is all measured, cut and fixed to last.
First fix is the structural stage — stud walls, floor joists, door linings, window boards and roof timbers — done while the building is still a shell. Second fix is everything you see afterwards: doors hung, skirting scribed, architrave mitred, shelving fitted. ZGS covers both, so the details that make the second fix easy get thought about while the first fix is going in.
It is as much about repairs and alterations as new work. A dropped door eased and rehung, a squeaky floor screwed down, a wall opened up or a partition added — the everyday carpentry that keeps a house working. Timber is set out square and level even when the house is anything but, because the finish is only ever as good as what it is fixed to.
Small jobs are priced honestly as small jobs; bigger projects get a written quote broken down so you can see where the money goes. Materials can be supplied, or you can buy them yourself and just pay for the fitting. Either way the site is left clean at the end of every day.
